And just like we hear so often, the father took away the kids keys in order to keep them safe. Yet, teenagers who drink can injure themselves and other innocent members of your community. They’re more likely to be involved in:
- Homicides
- Suicides
- Falls, burns and drowning
Kids who reported that a parent or a friend’s parent had provided alcohol at a party within the past year reported drinking more on their last drinking occasion and were twice as likely to have engaged in binge drinking.
If that fact doesn't scare you, it should. Frequent binge drinkers are more likely to:
- engage in risky behaviors
- use other drugs including marijuana and cocaine
- have sex with six or more partners
